Torupillitalu Fireside Evenings with Storytelling and Music: with Piret Päär on 3 October, 2026
Torupillitalu Fireside Evenings with Stories and Music is a new event series where we invite fascinating guests, share stories and make music together. The first evening will take place on Saturday, 3 October 2026, at 6:00 pm. By the fireplace, storyteller Piret Päär will share a handful of stories about the bagpipe, playing music and the magical power of music. Between the stories, Anu Taul will perform music, as well Erkki Peetsalu will lead conversation with the storyteller.
The aim of the Fireside Evenings is to bring light and warmth to the dark autumn evenings, offering an opportunity to meet extraordinary people, listen to fascinating stories, ask questions and discover new things, and experience music being performed right there in the moment.
The evening of stories and music will last approximately two hours. A cosy home café will be open at the venue.
Piret Päär is widely regarded as one of Estonia's finest storytellers. Her most recent major performance at the Viljandi Folk Music Festival filled the entire Aida concert hall.
We invited Piret to be the guest of the first Torupillitalu Fireside Evening specifically to draw attention to the bagpipe and stories connected with playing music, and to hear stories about how music has helped people through different situations – sometimes in ways that seem almost impossible to explain.
Before Piret begins her storytelling, we will also have a conversation with her to learn a little more about her work, her experiences and her outlook on life. Erkki Peetsalu will lead the conversation.
Between the stories, Anu Taul will perform music, choosing instruments, songs and melodies especially suited to the evening.
